Design-Build Remodeling in Ann Arbor, From Sketch to Last Coat

4.9 from 54 Google reviews

Wright's Renovations designs, prices and builds kitchens, baths, basements and additions out of its Ypsilanti shop. One project manager stays with your house from contract to warranty visit.

Renovation without the runaround

Wright's Renovations offers design-build remodeling in Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti and four more Southeast Michigan counties. Design, permits, construction and finish work stay under one roof.

Six specialized crews work out of one shop on Platt Road, and every house gets one project manager from contract to the warranty visit.

The team plans around the age of your house. Pre-1920 homes in the Old West Side bring balloon framing and knob-and-tube wiring.

Royal Oak bungalows often need a flush beam to open the kitchen, and 1960s ranches may hide aluminum branch wiring. Those known issues go into the proposal from the start instead of turning up later as change orders.

Design-build remodeling in Ann Arbor, room by room

Kitchen Remodeling

Full gut renovations, layout reworks and kitchen additions, starting from $75K. Cabinet orders go in the week you sign selections, so the longest-lead item never holds up the build. Most kitchens take 6 to 10 weeks, and recent ones run from Ann Arbor to Belleville.

Bathroom Renovation

Primary suites, wet rooms and half baths, from $40K. Every shower pan sits on a bonded membrane and gets a flood test before tile goes up. Heated floors are a common add in Michigan. Bathrooms carry a five-year craftsmanship warranty.

Basement Finishing

Family rooms, theaters, in-law suites, wet bars and steam showers, from $70K. Before framing, the crew checks the perimeter drain, the sump and the grade outside. Any basement bedroom gets a code-compliant egress window cut in.

Home Additions

Second-story builds, primary suite additions, ADUs and in-law suites, from $185K, with engineered drawings and full permitting handled. In-law suites with a first-floor bath are the fastest-growing request across all six counties the firm serves.

Decks and Outdoor Living

Composite and hardwood decks, three-season rooms and covered patios, from $45K. Footings go below the frost line, and framing is sized for Michigan snow load rather than for the 70-degree day it was built on.

Whole-Home Renovation

Down-to-studs rebuilds, historic restoration and full-floor reworks, from $350K. Work is phased so families can often stay home. On Craftsman and Victorian houses around Ann Arbor, the crew mills trim profiles to match what is already there.

Started at 19 with one pickup truck

Connor Wright founded Wright's Renovations in 2021 at age 19, with one pickup truck. More than 550 projects later, the company ranked No. 610 on the 2026 Inc. 5000 and No. 2 in Ann Arbor.

Connor is still the founder who walks sites and answers the phone. He also says no to a finish that will look dated before the warranty runs out.

Will Sujek, Chief Revenue Officer since 2021, runs discovery calls and proposals. Katherine Anderson, Chief Administrative Officer since 2024, handles permits and insurance certificates.

Chile and the Wright team did an excellent job rebuilding our 100-year-old back stairs. It was a challenging project that required working around an uneven stone foundation and awkward framing, but the final result is beautiful and completely solid. They were a pleasure to work with, and I highly recommend them.

I could not be more pleased with the craftsmanship, attention to detail and diligence of Charles in building our Steam Shower in our basement. The design team with MacKenzie and Nick was also great.

This five-star review is long overdue! About a year ago, we had Wright’s renovations remodel our kitchen, and the experience was absolutely amazing.

What Ann Arbor homeowners ask before signing

What does a kitchen or bathroom remodel cost with Wright's?

The company publishes starting points. Kitchens start from $75K, bathrooms from $40K, basements from $70K, decks and outdoor work from $45K, additions from $185K and whole-home renovations from $350K. Your actual number comes as a fixed-scope proposal with line-item materials and labor after the in-home measure and design phase.

How long will my kitchen take?

Wright's lists a 6 to 10 week build timeline for kitchens. Before that, the discovery call happens in week one, and design and the proposal take weeks two and three. Cabinet orders go in the week you sign your selections, so the long-lead item does not hold up the schedule.

What happens if you find a problem behind the walls?

When a wall hides something, you get photos, three priced fixes and a recommendation within 24 hours. Known issues for your era of house are written in up front. For example, aluminum branch circuits in mid-1960s to early-1970s homes get pigtailed with approved connectors as a proposal line item, not a change order.

My house is in an Ann Arbor historic district. Can you still work on it?

Yes. Exterior changes inside Ann Arbor's historic districts go to the Historic District Commission before the building department, and Wright's budgets four to eight weeks for that review. The team designs to the commission's expectations from the start instead of appealing later, and mills trim to match original profiles on older houses.

Will you take a small job, like a door or a drywall patch?

Yes, through Wright's Repairs, a separate division with its own technicians and van under the same builder's license. Repairs are quoted in writing from photos and a short video, with a not-to-exceed ceiling. Each job gets before and after photos and one year on workmanship. It covers about 30 minutes from the Ypsilanti shop.
